Delivered new to Widerøe's in 1957 and imported into Canada in 1971. The Certificate of Registration was cancelled in January 2001 and it was supposedly parked at Hemet/CA during this time, so I don't know what it was doing here. It surfaced dismantled in a truck at Venon/BC in 2005 and was converted to Texas Turbine, then was exported as N205RC. Alaska based in 2023.

By this date it had already been re-registered as C-FASC for Arctic Sunwest Charters. After several ownership changes it became C-FCGE with Provincial Aerospace and is used as a surveillance aircraft. Just visible behind this is the other one, C-GJVB (ex 142802), which became C-GSUR with the Canadian Government and is also used as a surveillance aircraft, based at Vancouver.

Skyward were closed down by Transport Canada in 2005 for numerous infractions and this Cessna passed to SkyCare Air Ambulance, of Sioux Lookout/ON, as their first aircraft. Maybe the company name was inspired by the lettering on this aircraft (no re-paint required). This particular aircraft was exported as XB-LNK in 2009.

This first production ST-28, first flew in December 1975. The Canadian Saunders Aircraft Company had moved from Quebec to Gimli, Manitoba in 1971 to manufacture ST-27 regional airliners, which were twin turboprop conversions of second hand De Havilland Herons. The ST-28 was a new-build, developed and improved version of the ST-27. However, progress with testing towards certification and series production, with no firm orders, proved too much of a financial strain. The withdrawal of Provincial Government support funding in 1976 finally caused the company to shut down.

This first production ST-28, first flew in December 1975. By 1999 it had been parted out as shown here. (BAe had so many of these on their hands they approached the engineering company I worked for in Winnipeg to see if we could design a cheap and cheerful express package modification. This fuselage was trucked to Winnipeg to be used as a prototype. The idea proved impractical due to the lack of a location for crew access when the cabin was crammed full of payload.)

Under later ownership, on 5 July 2006, it met its end on a river 100 NM north of Kuujjuarapik/QC. A water landing went bad and it overturned at 50 knots then was carried downstream while tumbling through rapids.
