Photographer not known. This is an undated Kodachrome slide taken at London Airport circa late 1950s/early 1960s. The two nearest BEA Viscounts are G-AOYJ (left) and G-AOHM (on the right), both of which went on to fly until the 1990s, latterly with British Air Ferries. EI-AKK was damaged beyond repair in a non-fatal landing accident at Bristol-Lulsgate on 21 September 1967.

The registration refers to the aircraft owner the Lotus Car Company. Sadly the aircraft was destroyed on 20th August 1980 when it disintegrated in flight; the accident board concluded that the pilot had indulged in prohibited aerobatics.

Although displaying the name of its former operator Spacegrand, it was probably on lease to the Southend based Hubbardair at the time. The aircraft was delivered new to Brymon Airways in July 1979 and since then, as well as the UK, it has served in New Zealand, Malaysia, Canada and at the time of writing is operating on floats in the Maldives as 8Q-IAE.
