The 95th Fighter Interceptor Training Squadron was activated at Tyndall on 15 Aug'74. The squadron transitioned from the F-106 (then based at Dover and inactivated in 1972) to the T-33A. The FITSgave support to the Weapons Controller Training Programme at Tyndall as well as providing training to new T-Bird pilots and QF-drone chase support for the USAF Weapons System Evaluation Programme. The 95th was the last active USAF unit to fly the T-33. The squadron transitioned to F-15 Eagle in 1988 as 95th TFTS and became later 95th FS, was inactivated in Sep'10 and activated in Oct'13 with the F-22A.

The 318th Fighter Interceptor Squadron was deactivated on 7 December 1989. The squadron flew at that time the F-15 Eagle, the units T-33As - inuse as used as a proficiency trainer and practice "bogey" aircraft within the squadron, were already phased out in 1988. The squadron was based at McChord AFB (WA), so it was a real fine surprise to see these lovely T-Birds thousands of miles from home during a small scale exercise at Tyndall (FL). This 57-0765 was retired to AMARC with inventory code TCC061, (later this became TC1361) on 19 February 1988.

The 136th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, based at Niagra Falls (NY) and part of the New York ANG, participated in a small exercise at Tyndall AFB (FL). The squadron swapped to F-16ADFs in 1990 and flies as the 136th Air Refueling Squadron the KC-135 since March 1994. Another change came up on 1 July 2008 when the squadron changed again, this time it became the 136th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, operating the C-130H. This changes did not end... from 2014 onwards the C-130Hs were moved and the MQ-9 Reaper was introduced, officially from March 2017.

On 26 September 1998, NAS Dallas was decommissioned and units were transferred to NAS JRB Fort Worth, the former Carswell AFB. NAS Dallas had several Skyhawks in service, assigned to the Operations Maintenance Detachment (OMD) in an adversary role, mainly in support of the Naval Air Reserve. The Skyhawks were instrumental in training and development of Air Combat Manoeuvring (ACM) for the NAS Dallas based VF-201 and VF-202, both Tomcat squadrons.
