This early Tri-Motor was the first plane of Maddux Air Lines, bought by Jack Maddux in July 1927. On other photos taken here at Dutch Flats, or Ryan Field, it still wears its initial registration NC3114, so perhaps changes were made here. By 1928, it reportedly wore fleet number 1 on the fuselage. This is the same Tri-Motor that was put on display in Pennsylvania Station in New York City in 1931. Flying the flag for Ford, tethered to three of the promoter's vehicles. I spent a little while as some 'ballast' in the basket at the invitation of the pilot.

The inscription "Jeugd en Luchtvaart" on the side translates as Youth and Aviation, a Belgian youth flying organisation. Many or all of their aircraft carried "Ford" titles, so it would seem that they were sponsored by Ford at the time.

Ford 1 Flivver replica of the 1927-built single seat Henry Ford inspired counterpart of his Model T car. Five originals were built before production ceased.

Whilst this aircraft is emblazoned with Ford markings and even carries an appropriate registration, this was simply for advertising purposes. It was operated by the Belgian youth aviation organisation "Jeugd en Luchtvaart".
