Delivered March 19, 1981, Singapore Airlines would lease this 747 to Garuda Indonesia 1994 - 96. Bought by United Parcel Service (N521UP) after return, the aircraft was converted to a freighter. Hauling freight and small packages until withdrawn December 30, 2008, it was stored at Roswell, NM. Sold to Stewart Industries in 2010, it was later scrapped.

This 742 was originally delivered to Singapore airlines in March 1976 as 9V-SQE. The plane had a long and well-travelled commercial life as it then flew with Pan Am (as N727PA), Nationair (C-FNXP), Tower Air (N514DC & N620FF), Air Club International (C-GCIH) and then finally arriving in Sweden as SE-RBN with Transjet. The plane has been preserved at ESSA since January 2008 and is in use as a hotel.

She then went to Boeing as N747BH in 1983 then to Pan Am as N727PA in 1984, Nationair as C-FNXP in 1992, Tower Air as N514DC in 1993 and Air Club International as C-GCIH in 1994. Back to the lessor as N511P in 1995 then to Tower Air as N620FF in 1996. To Transjet Airways as SE-RBN in 2002, Northeast Airlines as 3D-NEE in 2004 and Jet Midwest as N981JM in 2007. Converted to Jumbo Stay Hotel at Stockholm-Arlanda in 2008 where she remains in 2023.

At that time 'Himalaya' was a new addition to the Air India fleet, coming from Singapore Airlines while retaining a non-standard all white fuselage.
