Originally delivered to the USAAF in 1944, post war this aircraft was sold to Trans Pacific airlines and then Aloha Airlines before being converted for Ag work in Hong Kong in 1961. It worked as a "topdresser" in New Zealand from 1961 to 1981 and its last such flight was on 20 Jan 1981. It was then restored to military configuration by the "Silverstream Aviation Society" and painted in RNZAF colours, (for whom it never operated), and placed on display at Ohakea airbase. It was removed from display in 1998 and sold, arriving at Gisborne in May 2000. (With thanks to Nigel Hitchman).

NZ3501 showing the damage caused when it collided with Ventura NZ4518 on March 1, 1945. Four of the five on the Ventura parachuted to safety but the pilot was unable to bail out in time. NZ3501 flew subsequent to the collision but it is not known the permanency of the repairs. It was at Ohakea in March 1946 before being flown to Hobsonville to become an instructional airframe.
