Still wearing the livery of its last lessor Guyana Airways but with titles removed.

Tragically this veteran airliner, built 1942 and with 64,700 hours "on the clock", was lost and it's 34 occupants killed, when it descended into the sea on approach to Freeport- Grand Bahama International Airport on 12th September 1980. At the time the airport was reporting low ceilings, low visibility with moderate turbulence and thunderstorm activity.

Although looking unlikely here the aircraft did live to fly another day and subsequently operated for Libyan Arab A/L, Southeast A/L, Faucett, Tropic Air, Aeronaves Borinquena and Hispaniola A/W, all still as N421MA, before being withdrawn from use at Miami in April 1982. The registration was cancelled in July 1982 but the aircraft was purchased by Hispaniola in August 1982 and re-registered HI-401. It was withdrawn from use at Puerto Plata Airport in the Dominican Republic in January 1984 and last noted stored there in August 1985 and is thought to have been broken there shortly after.

This aircraft was written off when it ditched in the sea off Opa Locka on 22nd July 1978 after a double engine failure during a training flight.

This aircraft was written off after it force landed in Cienéga Unguía lagoon, Colombia, on 1st April 1978 after an unauthorised flight from Panama.

Reportedly in use by the Haitian government with the cheatline painted in their national colours, last reported as derelict at Port au Prince in March 1996.

Later came on to the US register as N92578 and is currently active flying for Airborne Imaging Inc. out of Midlothian, Texas.

Originally G-APDI with BOAC and last operated by Aerovias Ecuatorianas C.A. (AREA) and withdrawn from use at MIA in March 1968; it was finally scrapped in February 1978.
