Delivered to the USAF as C-119F 51-8037 in 1953. Modified to a C-119J in 1956 then specially modified for the mid-air retrieval of space capsules re-entering the atmosphere from orbit in 1958/9. Made the first midair recovery of a capsule returning from orbit when it snagged the parachute lowering the Discoverer XIV satellite 360 miles from Hawaii in 1960. This third F-22 built, was involved in a mishap on 28 September 2004, became afterwards an instructional airframe at Edwards AFB (CA), went into storage and was fully restored for preservation in the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (since May 2007).

The Boeing Bird of Prey was a black project aircraft, intended to demonstrate stealth technology. It was developed by McDonnell Douglas and Boeing in the 1990s. As an internal project, this aircraft was not given an X-plane designation. The first flight was in 1996, and some forty flights were performed through the program's conclusion in 1999. The aircraft, which had given the designation "YF-118G" as a cover, was made public on 18 October 2002. The Bird of Prey was put on display at the National Museum of the USAF at Wright-Patterson AFB on 16 July 2003.

Delivered to the USAF in 1950, this B-45C spent much of its active life bailed to Pratt & Whitney being used for engine testing. Finally retired in 1971, it was flown to the USAF Museum for display.This slide shows the markings when the museum acquired the a/c. It is currently on display inside the museum.

5 Aug '43: TOS USAAF. 22 Aug: Departed Tucson, AZ, Modification Center and began flight to Egypt, arriving at Deversoir Field, Egypt on 7 September. After combat modifications it was delivered to the 512th Bomb Squadron/376th Bomb Group, Benghazi, Libya. 24 Sep: Squadron moved to Enfidaville, Tunisia. 17 Nov: Squadron moved to San Pancrazio, Italy. Flew a total of 56 missions, the last on being on 23 Feb '44. April/44: Due to obsolescence, the plane returned to the USA. September/44: Began storage tour, several bases. 12 May '59: Flown to the Air Force Museum at Patterson Field, Fairborn, OH.
