Being prepared for lease from Norse Air

This former SAAF Dakota has a very interesting history. Delivered to the RNZAF's 40 Sqd as NZ3546 in June 1945 where it served until July 1952 when it was passed on to New Zealand National Airways as ZK-AWQ. Returned to the the RNZAF in April 1961 where it served until wftu in 1977. After a further two years on the NZ register as ZK-AWQ, it was sold to the Comores as D6-CAG as part the SAAF clandestine scheme to replenish its transport fleet circumventing UN imposed sanctions on the country. In the SAAF it served as 6863 before being converted to at Turbo Dak seen here during conversion at PRY

Built for American Airlines as N1991, then to Phoenix Airways in November 1994 before sold to Million Air Charter who leased it to Zimbabwe Express Airlines between December 1995, and June 1996. It was converted to a freighter in July 1996 and leased to Guardian Airfreight the same year and later Express Air Services before going to Transafrik in November 1999 as S9-BOC. Scrapped at Upington, Northern Cape in 2019.

Delivered to Lufthansa as D-ABKI in February 1973 where it served until going to Okada Air in January 1993 as 5N-NEC. Safair bought the 727 in November 1995 and it remained on South African register until retired nine years later. In that period it was leased to both Sun Air and Comair as well as operating for the United Nations.

Formerly G-ASXT, 7Q-YKD served with Air Malawi until sold to Peru as OB-R-1271, later re-registered OB-T-1271. Written off 10 March 1989 when the aircraft struck a building in downtown Lima, Peru. Photographer unknown
