VH-RMA seen here in a modified livery that was applied following changes to improve comfort to passenger. Ansett-ANA's modified aircraft were marketed as Electra Mk.II and the livery changes to reflect that these modifications are not to be confused with the more extensive changes made to Electras after two disintegrated in flight due to whirl mode. By the time the Ansett aircraft went through that more extensive program in 1961 the tail livery had been revised. Photo by: Ken Oram / Michael Oram

The visit to Australia of 55-0033 aroused considerable attention. The RAAF had ordered 12 C-130As in 1957 marking a major step up in the RAAF's transport capability. It had been using Douglas Dakotas plus a few Bristol 170s supplied by the British government specifically to support the Woomera rocket range. Photo by: Ken Oram / Michael Oram

Crashed landed after the engine failed. Pilot managed to dump the load of superphosphate before coming down in a ploughed paddock. Airtruks were designed to roll up like this in an accident to absorb the crash impact while keeping the cockpit intact. Photo by: Neill Glover

The new airport at Cooma, built to support the Snowy Mountains Hydro Scheme, was one the few regional airports in the Butler network able to handle the Viscount. The aircraft's weight was more than runways and aprons laid for DC-3s could handle. VH-BAT was reregistered VH-RMO following the Ansett takeover of Butler. Photo by: Joe Slosu

Registered January 15, 1957, Had an accident at Terlet May 20, 1978 and cancelled in April 1980. The damaged aircraft was added to the Aviodome (from 2003 Aviodrome) museum collection. In October, 2005 it was painted by children as a holiday activity and soon after it was stored with a private person in Zeewolde. Somewhat ironically, a fuel company was sponsoring this glider in 1966 albeit promoting automotive fuel and not aviation fuel. Photo from: Fred Quint
