Aircraft gathered at Vanimo in the search for missing Cessna 206 VH-ATG, operated by Aerial Tours. The Ansett-MAL DC-3 brought in drums of extra fuel for the search aircraft. The F27 was on one of its regular twice weekly services that overnighted at Vanimo. Despite a 12-day search, VH-ATG was not found. The wreckage was eventually spotted in January 1971. Some inconsistencies with this 180A. In 1963, when registered VH-DEC, it was no longer in its factory finish. It had been painted in the operator's colours. DEC was WFU in 1971 then restored as VH-DEQ in 1981. It went to PNG in 1985 and as seen here, wears a worn factory livery appropriate to a Cessna 180A. Different fuselage? P2-DEQ suffered an accident in 1990 and was sold in the UK as G-BTSM in 1991. Lloyd Caughey photo

K168 was a temporary registration for an aircraft intended to become G-EAHP. It is not clear if this happened as K168 was shipped to Australia where it carried K168 until it crashed on August 17, 1920. The location is likely Glenelg where Aerial Transport Company of South Australia operated joyflights until it went out of business.

This the first ZK-AMA Ao-tea-roa for Tasman Empire Air Lines that was instead delivered to Imperial Airways as G-AFCY. ZK-AMC Awarua (c/n S886) became the first S-30 for TEAL after ZK-AMB was also diverted to Imperial. AMC's name was changed to Aotearoa (no hyphens) for publicity photos then the registration was changed to ZK-AMA prior to delivery. About a year later Imperial, which had named G-AFCY Awarua, released it to TEAL with whom it became ZK-AMC thus completing the identity swap.
