This Corsair was built by Goodyear in Akron, OH during April 1945 and assigned to the USN serving aboard USS Intrepid. Afer the war she was transferred to the Naval Reserve and stationed at NAS Sand Point. On July 29, 1950 she ditched in Lake Washington following a non-fatal midair collision with another Corsair and was not recovered until 1983. Post-restoration she is now on display in the Museum of Flight although on loan from the National Museum of Naval Aviation at Pensacola, FL.

Nicknamed the 'Flying Razor' by Royal Flying Corps pilots at the end of WWI this superb fighter arrived just too late to have any effect on the course of the war. This replica was built by E Swearingen in the 1960s with input from the original designer Rheinhold Pfalz and now hangs proudly in the Museum of Flight.

I can hardly put into words what a thrill it is for me, a guy captivated by classic commercial aviation, to visit the Airpark at the wonderful Museum of Flight. This stunning Connie has now taken her place there alongside probably the most famous airliner of all tme, N7470.

This was one of my most frustrating days ever photographing aeroplanes! The Museum of Flight is (rightly) soooo busy that this shot was only possible just before closing during a mad dash around the bigger exhibits to try and get them people free before being chucked out. Nice memories for me though from a fabulous museum!
