Slide taken at the outdoor aircraft display area at the old museum on Patterson AFB. The USAF Museum acquired this a/c in December 1964 from the Connecticut Air National Guard. It was later on display at the current museum. In June 1982 it was transferred to the Ohio Air National Guard Base in Springfield, Ohio where it is on display.

This a/c is now on display in the current museum but is marked as a different F-86D. 50-477 spent most of it's active duty life bailed to North American Aviation for use in testing, and was retired to the museum in 1957.

This slide was taken at the outdoor aircraft display area at the original museum on Patterson AFB. The a/c is currently on display in the current museum. On 27-28 February 1947 this F-82B flew nonstop from Hickam Field, HI. to LaGuardia Field in New York City. In 1950 through 1957 it was assigned to the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, where it was used for testing ramjets. It was damaged in June 1957 and was transferred to the museum.

This is actually RB-25D USAAF s/n 43-3374 marked as B-25B 40-2344, the B-25 flown by Jimmy Doolittle during the April 1942 raid over Japan. 43-3374 was TOC 31 October 1943 and was retired in December 1957. It was then transferred to the North American Aviation plant in Inglewood, CA. There it was reconfigured to resemble Doolittle's B-25B. That was finished in April 1958 and the a/c flown to the USAF Museum. This slide was taken in the outdoor display area at the old museum. It is currently on display at the current museum in the World War Two Gallery.

4/45: TOS USAAF. Assigned to the 552nd BS/381st BG, RAF Ridgewell, England. It was the last plane assigned to this unit; did not see combat but was sent back to the USA after the war ended in Europe. 1948: Converted to MB-17G operating in the flying bomb project with the Guided Missile Wing, Eglin AFB, FL. Later converted to TB-17G. Then it went to the 3205th Drone Squadron, Eglin; converted to DB-17G and then DB-17P. 17 June '57: Flown to the Air Force Museum at Patterson Field, OH. 1988: Traded to the Air Mobility Command Museum, Dover AFB for the recently restored "Shoo, Shoo, Shoo Baby.

Ca.1962: TOS USAF as a T-37B, then modified as the prototype T-37C. 1963: Converted to YAT-37D as prototype for a counter-insurgency attack aircraft; was given engines of 2400 lbst and six underwing pylons as well as the wing-tip fuel tanks. 12/64: Flown to the Air Force Museum. 8/66: Returned to service with the USAF due to high losses of A-1 Skyraiders in Vietnam. Testing was resumed as the aircraft was redesignated YA-37A as a prototype for the A-37A, and later brought up to A-37A standards. 7/70: Flown to the Air Force Museum.

4 Apr '83: First flight. 22 Apr '83: TOS USAF and assigned to 81st TFW, RAF Bentwaters, England. 1987: Converted to OA-10A. After 6/87 to after 6/91: 511th TFS/10th TFW, RAF Alconbury, England. By 7/92 to 3/10: 103rd FS/111th FW (ANG), Willow Grove, PA. 2006: Converted to A-10C. 3/10: 81st FS/52nd FW, Spangdahlem AB, Germany. After 2/13: 74th FS/23rd FW, Moody AFB, GA. 4/13: Deployed for combat in Afghanistan with 74th FS for Operation Enduring Freedom, still carrying markings of the 81st FS. By 1/15: 354th FS/355th FW, Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ.

The first production aircraft at the old Air Force Museum on Patterson AFB in 1958, reportedly used for weather research tests there.

This is the #2 prototype. Seen at the old AF Museum location on the Patterson AFB.

The last of 3 XT-37s seen at the old Air Force Museum on Patterson AFB in May, 1958. Reported to now be at Mid-America Air Museum, Liberal, KS. In the background is the YB-36A, 42-13571, which was scrapped when the museum moved to it's current location. It was salvaged by Walter Soplata and parts are reported to still be on his property in Ohio.

Slide taken in the outdoor aircraft display area at the old museum on Patterson AFB. The XF-85 Goblin program was a failure, with this a/c only completing one flight on 8 April 1949. The second XF-85, s/n 46-524, only managed to complete four flights and was damaged on the fourth flight. The USAFM received 46-523 in 1950. It was transferred to the new museum and is on display.

It was acquired by the USAFM in 1965 from Air France, where it was used in their training school near Paris. This is a combat veteran, having seen action with the Free French Air Force during the last months of WW 2.
