On display at RAF Museum Cosford. This York was delivered in Oct. 1945 to the RAF as TS798, but joined BOAC on 09 Dec 45. It was issued civil registration G-AGNV and was used initially for training. It then entered scheduled BOAC service as "Moreville" as part of the 'M' class service to Calcutta as a 50-seater aircraft. It was later named "Middlesex" and flew its last BOAC flight in Nov. 1954. The York was sold to Skyways Ltd. which retired it in May 1964, after which it made the final Avro York flight for permanent display.

Derived from the Lancaster, the Avro York first flew in 1942 and was intended as a post-war military and civilian airliner. A total of 259 were built and there are only two survivors, the other being in the RAF Museum Cosford Collection. Seen here in the AirSpace hangar at Duxford which is tightly packed. Derived from the Lancaster, the Avro York first flew in 1942 and was intended as a post-war military and civilian airliner. A total of 259 were built and there are only two survivors, the other being in the RAF Museum Cosford Collection. Seen here in the AirSpace hangar at Duxford which is tightly packed.
