This Lodestar is in serious need of a paintjob. It has markings of RAF AM711 (which was a Hudson), but is actually N3779G (ex USAAF 42-32181).

Was used for geological survey works and known by nickname "Kultakuokka".

This former USAAF 43-16434 had a European career with BOAC (G-AGIK), the Norwegian AF (T-AF) and Ostermans Aero (SE-BTG), before returning to the US in 1951 as N94532.

Lockheed Lodestar, not in very good condition. Was confiscated in Montevideo, carrying contraband cigarettes. Aftr the museum moved from downtown Montevideo to the airport the Lodestar went into storage because much corrosion was found.

Built for the USAAF and transferred to the Dutch East Indies Air Force as LT-933. In April 1944 lent to the RAAF. Little is then known about the aircraft until an application to register it in Australia was lodged in September 1950. It became VH-FAB. At the end of 1952 it was sold in Vietnam as F-OALK. Ex Dutch East Indies Air Force Lockheed 18 impressed by the USAAF after it was flown to Australia to escape the Japanese advance. Given the callsign VHCAA and flown by QEA crews on transport missions into Papua New Guinea. This photo believed to be taken when QEA chief Hudson Fysh travelled on one of those missions. Supplies were flown in and wounded flown out. VHCAA became VH-APZ after the war. The location of this photo is difficult to establish as there were at least 15 runways and airfields around Dobodura. Delivered to Dutch East Indies air force in 1941. Escaped to Australia in 1942 and impressed by USAAF. Operated by Guinea Airways for the Allied military. After war sold to APL and registered in May 1946. Used on airline services but by August 1946 it was destined for New Zealand, where it became ZK-ALZ in November. This Lodestar was initially displayed at Surrey, BC, but when in 1996 the museum moved from there to Langley, BC, the aircraft ended up here, on temporary display. In Oct 2007 it was dismantled and trucked to Abbotsford, BC for a long-term cosmetic restoration by students of the University of the Fraser Valley Aerospace Centre, which was expected to take 15-20 years. When finished, the aircraft will join the rest of the museum's collection at Langley, BC, Canada. Note the Trans-Canada Air Lines - TCA logo on the nose.

Built for US Navy in April 1943 as R50-5 12476. Withdrawn in August 1946. Served several corporate owners until cancelled from US Register in August 1982.

Overview of the museum's storage yard near the southeast end of the runway, about 1300 metres east of the museum main building. From right to left are DC-3 CF-JWP c/n 9089, B-25 RCAF 5237 c/n 108-47480, Learstar (L-18 Lodestar) CF-CEC c/n 18-2132 and finally hiding at the far left is Beech 18 CF-OME c/n AF-662. None of these aircraft remained in this yard by 2017, but except for the DC-3 their fates are unclear.
