B-47E-35-LM Stratojet Later converted to EB-47L. Seen at the National Air Show in Philadelphia, September 1955. From 1957 to late 1959 I maintained the ECM equipment on these and RB-47 E's at Lockbourne AFB in Columbus, Ohio.

Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ in 1964. To the museum in 1969.

This RB-47H is one of the star attractions of the Armament Museum in Eglin.

During the early 1960s, about 35 B-47Es were modified to EB-47E configuration for use as electronic intelligence gathering aircraft. This one is in the marks of the 376th BW, Lockbourne AFB, OH circa 1964

Used as a JB-47E fly-by-wire test aircraft. To the Museum in 1969. Moved to Kirtland AFB, NM in 2013.

Captured on an early evening visit to the museum. Built as a B-47E and later modified to an EB-47E. Retired to MASDC on 08 Dec 1964 from the 376th BW at Lockbourne AFB, OH and later acquired by the museum.

3 Oct 1955: TOS USAF and assigned to the 55th SRW, Forbes AFB, KS. Deployed to several locations, including Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, and Yokota Air Base, Japan, and flew missions over the Soviet Union. 10/66: SOC. Donated to the city of Salina, KS; displayed with the International Society of Vehicle Preservation, Salina Airport (ex-Schilling AFB). The aircraft was vandalized and deteriorated badly over the years. 1998: Acquired by the Air Force Museum and began restoration. The nose section and engines were acquired from B-47E 52-0410. 3/03: Restoration completed and placed on display.

1956: TOS USAF; assigned to the 55th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, Forbes AFB, KS, where it spent its entire military career; flew several missions over Soviet air space.  29 Dec 1967: AMARC; last operational B-47 type. 16 Jul 1968: Bailed to North American Aviation; used as radar test bed for the F-111A, with its nose being replaced by F-111-like nose for testing. 8/72 to 3/76: Testing for the Forward-Looking Advanced Multimode Radar (FLAMR) program. 1976: Ferried to Eglin AFB, FL, for the Air Force Armament Museum.  The F-111 radome and stubby RB-47H nose was replaced by a B-47E nose.

26 Mar 1956: TOS USAF; assigned to 308th Bombardment Wing, Hunter AFB, GA. Unknown date: 98th BW, Lincoln AFB, NE, from which it made its last flight on 7 Dec 1965. It landed at Wichita Airport and turned over to the Mayor. 12/69: Mounted on concrete pole on the west side of town. 16 Mar 1988:Transferred to McConnell AFB, KS, in the charge of the 184th BW. They did some basic restoration and mounted the plane on short pedestals on the base. 7/99: Removed from the pedestals and taken to a hangar for a thorough restoration. 10/99: Moved to a new position in the McConnell Air Park on Rock Road.

By 3/53: TOS USAF. The plane spent its career as a test bed, being first assigned to the USAF Air Development Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH and used for terrain signals and photo-reconnaissance work. 1965: Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB, CA. 1967: ADC, Wright-Patterson AFB; redesignated JB-47E and a fly-by wire system was installed. 1969: Landed at Wright Field; placed in storage for the Air Force Museum. 8/71:Placed on display. 2003: Removed from display. 9/12 to 1/13: Disassembled and shipped in sections to the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque, NM.

51-2151 and 51-2146, in the background, were both retired to MASDC from 340 BW at Whiteman in 1960. 51-2151 is also reported written off at Pinecastle AFB, Florida on June 26, 1954, but this is clearly incorrect.
