A grainy B&W photo of N4814C, but I notice we don't have a photo of it in original Delta Airlines livery yet. Converted from CV-340 to CV-440 in the 1956-57 timeframe. Lots of action on the ramp; First Officer doing preflight walkaround, baggage being unloaded, and fuel truck in front of right wing.

Built for Lufthansa in 1954 and broken up as N478KW in October 1990. I wasn't going to upload this because of the foreground clutter, but the livery is different from that worn in the two existing photos on AirHistory.net, which changed my mind.

On display at the Cradle of Aviation Museum. This aircraft was built as a CV-340-68 and was converted to a CV-440. It served with a number of airlines, and with the Luftwaffe as 12+01. Its last civil registration was N24AT. This nose section has been painted to represent a Lufthansa Convairliner. Lufthansa flew four CV-340s and seven CV-440s on short-haul routes, inaugurating its domestic services on April 1, 1955.

Later the same year the airline re-branded as AeroSun. The airline ceased operations in Oct 1982. In 1990 the aircraft became HI-594CT with Trans Dominican Airways. Seen stored by Dec 95.

Seen in poor condition at Fort Lauderdale FL in 1984.

Delivered new as CV340-42 PI-C342 to Philippine Als 30.11.53. Converted to CV-440. Bought by Linjeflyg as SE-CRP 29.01.60. Retired 10.77 and broken up 03.78.

Originally a Convair 340 with Lufthansa until converted to 440. To General Air (Germany) Apr 69. It then went to LACSA Jun 72 first as TI-1091C then TI-LRG. To Air Sunshine in June 77. To Ocean Airways Nov 79. To Air Resorts Airlines Sep 81. On 25 Aug 82 the aircraft collided with a mountain at 11700 feet near Wolf Creek Pass CO., while continuing VFR flight in worsening weather conditions. The aircraft was owned by National Flight Services, but operated by Air Resorts Airlines. The two crew survived the accident.

Originally built for Delta as a Convair 340, N4816C. Later converted to a 440.

Originally built for Delta Air Lines in 1953 and kept the same registration right up to the end when it was scrapped at Ft. Lauderdale and cancelled in April 1991. This was possibly as a result of an in-flight engine fire in October 1982.

An unusual visitor to Heathrow. Ex Luftwaffe 1201 and still in their basic livery with "Alice" titles and named "Margherita". It brought rock band Alice Cooper in for a series of concert dates.

Built 1953 as a Convair 340-40 for Finnair (OH-LRC). Converted to a 440 in 1956. Sold in 1972 as N999TZ. To Philippines as RP-C362 in 1977.

This Convairliner began as a 340 delivered to Aeronaves de Mexico as XA-KOU "Cuidad de Tijuana" in February 1954. In January 1960, Lynjeflyg bought all four of Aeronaves de Mexico's Convairs with SE-CRO delivered in March 1960 and converted to 440 standard. Withdrawn in May 1978, it's pictured en route to the USA to become N28DR for Air Go Air Freight. Flying with Combs Freightair and Kitty Hawk Aircargo after 1980 , the aircraft was sold to Aircraft Leasing in March 1991 after sitting without engines in Fort Worth, TX for a year. It was later later broken up.

Stored side by side along the runway of the Chihuahua Airport in the high desert of northern Mexico since at least 2002 are XA-TDL in blue on the right and XA-TDF in green on the left. Both are Mexicana Carga Convairs, both still showing their titles.

N28341 Douglas DC-3 Dakota (3278) was gracing the small ramp. My heart goes where the wild goose goes, well "Herman" anyways! N8444H c/n 96 a Convair 340-42A. Her career started in 1953 heading to Philipppine Airlines as PI-C342, but ended as N8420H still a Convair 340 on 20 October 1955 at Shereveport, Louisiana where she was damaged by fire. Rebuilt as a Convair 440 she served as N8444H (327A) ; was converted to a Convair 580 (PAC166) 01 May 1969 then after service with Republic Airlines went to TG-MYM before returning to the US and N8444H until she went to C-FCIB then on to become ZK-CIB.

Here is N8444H Convair 440-42 (327A) of North Central Airlines awaiting my presence at Cleveland - Hopkins -KCLE, Ohio. 0n 27 August 1966 I flew on her operating as flight "NC806" for the twenty-nine minute journey to Detroit - Metropolitan. By 28 August 1968, I was at Aberdeen, South Dakota. I had just come off N8444H Convair 440 Metropolitan (327A) of North Central Airlines "NC763" completing my leg number twelve on this airframe in two days, it was a good time to get off and stretch my legs as I had to travel two more to Bismark and finally end up at Minot.
