Just arrived at the Air Canada maintenance hangar for conversion from combi to all freighter. In September it emerged in the UPS livery. The huge hangar was built to house Lockheed Tristars and was politically motivated to keep the locals happy. In practice, Boeing 727 and Airbus maintenance was carried out instead. Also much third-party airline work was done which brought in some interesting visitors like this DC-8. Sadly, Air Canada eventually pulled the plug and when I was there in 2012 it was a truck freight terminus with no aviation connection.

Built in 1974 for the Chilean National Police and here probably in operations with Toronto based Soundair on weekdays courier service. The date being a Saturday, it is parked at a crumbling no-man's-land location on the airport until Monday so as to avoid ramp fees. Last known of in Venezuelan service post-2001.

On a sales tour and it still carries the extended test pitot tube on the wing-tip. Likely trying to interest Perimeter Airlines who at the time were flying the Queen Air, Metroliner and DC-3. A bit out of their price range then but about 25 years later Perimeter did add the type.

In operation with Manitoba Government Air Service and carrying the earlier fleet number which was later changed to 252. Exported as N36CL in January 2020. The building seen behind the tail used to be the passenger terminal until 1964 when a new one opened. I was employed 1970 to 1983 by the company that took it over which is how I managed to get so many up-close ramp shots.

Originally built for United Air Lines in 1953 as a Convair 340 and here operated by Farmers Union Travel Club of Denver/CO. In 1992 it became C-FKFM with Kelowna Flightcraft Air Charter. Later it went to Conair as a retardant bomber then was sold to Buffalo Airways at their Red Deer/AB base in 2022, so likely used for engine spares.

Built in 1965 and here registered to rail-car manufacturer Morrison-Knudsen (logo on side). Likely in Winnipeg to visit Canadian National Railways who back then had a huge presence at Symington Yard, including repair shops. Built in 1970 and here registered to a Mr. R. A. Kroc who was the prime mover in McDonald's Restaurants at this time. Waiting to go into the Air Canada hangar to avoid overnight frost which was still common even in April. The brick structure was the original passenger terminal starting in 1937 with the baggage being handled through the dark doorway by the wingtip.
