An L-10C Electra probably photographed when new in 1935. The reason for its visit to the Ryan company is unknown. Behind it is NC9243, the 1929 Curtiss Robin that Douglas 'Wrong Way' Corrigan flew across the Atlantic in 1938 and was owned by him from 1933. The L-10 briefly served with Pan Am's subsidiary in Cuba, registered NM-12, but joined Pan Am's Pacific Alaska Airways later in 1935. NC14906 went back to Cuba in 1946 as NM-26, later CU-T12. In 1959 it became N2628 with Mountain Airlines from Burbank. Fate unknown. Photo from: San Diego Air & Space Museum

This is a single Lockheed Model 10 built as an XR2O-1 for the Secretary of the Navy with BuNo 0267. Post war it flew as N57573 with various corporate operators and airlines, including a short period with Provincetown-Boston Airline in early 1962. It joined the Wings and Wheels Museum in Orlando in the early 1980s and was later transferred to its current location, where it was restored in these Northwest Airlines colours by 2010

Although marked as a USN XR2O-1, this Lockheed 10-A never served in the Navy. Built in 1938 and exported to Australia as VH-ABV and operated by MMA. After WWII reregistered VH-MMD. Returned to U.S. in 1954 and from then through 1975 operated by several entities with reg. N4886V. Reregistered N19HL and stricken from register in 1980. In 1987 Valiant Air Command reregistered it as N19HL. Restoration to flight status was started, but in 2002 the a/c was donated to the NNAM where a static restoration was completed. Currently on display in the main museum building.

Delivered in January 1937 to Roger Wolfe Kahn (1907-1962), jazz musician, composer, and Grumman test pilot! In 1941 he acquired a G-44 Widgeon, also NC1700. The L-10 was impressed as a C-36A, 42-38341, in 1942, but written off within a few months. The second aircraft is a rare Fairchild 45A, NC16864, and next is the Fleetwings F-4 Sea Bird, NX16793. This Electra was constructed as a XR20-1 in 1938 and TOC with the USN with BuNo 0267. The plane was based at NAS Anacostia for use as a staff transport by the Secretary of the Navy. Post-WWII it flew as N57573 and came to the NEAM in August 2010 where it has been wondefully restored in this Northwest Airlines scheme.
