This was the 30th Comet built, having been ordered as G-AMXH for BOAC. When that order was cancelled, the fuselage was strengthened and the aircraft taken over by the RAF in 1956 as a C.Mk.2 with 216 sqn. It was later modified for radio signals duties as a Mk.2R, at Hatfield and by Marshall's of Cambridge, going on to fly ELINT flights along the borders of the Warsaw Pact until superceded by Nimrod R.1s. The plane was retired to IWM Duxford in 1975 with 8,236 flying hours in over 3,200 flights but due to excessive corrosion, it was dismantled in 1992 and the nose donated to the DHAHC.

This Comet first flew in May 1953 and delivered to Air France. In April 1954 the Comet's Certificate of Airworthiness was revoked and the type grounded. This plane was returned to the UK in June 1956 using the registration G-AOJT and it became the back up airframe for the pressure tests carried out in a water tank at RAE Farnborough. In the end it was not required and so remained cocooned until it was acquired by the museum in 1985. This fuselage is the only surviving Comet to have the original square windows and is, therefore, extremely significant.

The Hornet Moth was designed in 1934 as a potential replacement for the highly successful Tiger Moth trainer but there was no interest from the RAF and the aircraft was put into production for private buyers with some 164 frames produced. This example was built at Hatfield in 1935 as the last D.H. 87A and first flown by Geoffrey de Havilland himself. It was later converted to D.H. 87B type with the rectangular wings and is on display at this very interesting museum.

This Sea Venom was built in Chester in 1957. It went on to fly from carriers until 1960 then, after a period in storage, was based at Yeovilton. Final retirement came in 1970 after which it was acquired by the De Havilland Aircraft Heritage Centre. The plane will be reassembled for display once space allows.

This 1A was originally ordered as one of two for Canadian Pacific and first flew in August 1952 as CF-CUM. The fatal loss of its sister ship at Karachi on its delivery flight in March 1953 meant that CPA cancelled the contract and CF-CUM went instead to BOAC as G-ANAV, being their only 1A but was also being operated by SAA. Following the Comet accidents, G-ANAV was used for testing at Farnborough as part of the investigation and then scrapped, The nose was saved by the Science Museum and later placed in storage at Wroughton. It has been recently donated to the DH museum.

Unfortunately the logbooks for this D.H. 89A have been lost so parts of its history are uncertain. It appears the plane was built as an RAF Dominie NR833 and delivered around July 1945. It was later converted to civilian use and transferred to British European Airways Corporation and operated for Iraqi Airways and Gibraltar Airways. At some point the frame was exported to France but dumped at Nimes airport, before becoming part of the Salis museum near Paris and then Aviodome at Schiphol. It is now undergoing meticulous restoration at this wonderful museum.

TA122 is one of the few FB Mk.IVs built at Hatfield as FB.VI, entering RAF service with 605 Sqn in March 1945. It was SOC in June 1950 in Germany and stored at RAF Celle as a spare source. The airframe was used for student instruction at the Delft Technical University in the Netherlands from 1951 to 1964 but, unfortunately, the wings were destroyed in 1958. Acquired by first RNAF Museum in 1978 and then by the de Havilland Museum for restoration, which used wings from Sea Mosquito TR.33 TW233 retrieved from Israel. This hangar contains the world's largest collection of surviving Mosquitos.
