This aircraft was destroyed on 17th July 1982 whilst it was parked at Old Warden when Beech Musketeer G-AYWS crashed upon it whilst taking off and both were consumed in the ensuing fire, sadly the 2 occupants of the Musketeer were killed. Thankfully the Fox Moth was the subject of an epic restoration by Ben and Jan Cooper at the Newbury Aeroplane Company and is now based in Germany with the Luftraum Sud collection at Aalen.

Originally N723PA "Clipper Viking" with Pan Am this aircraft subsequently had a very colourful history too long to detail here, but it achieved fame on 11th October 1979 when it took off from Bristol Lulsgate Airport for Kuwait "after using every inch of runway….the aircraft extensively damaged approach lighting, carried a quantity of hedge and tree with it to Kuwait, and left behind at Lulsgate large sections of both inner flaps."! It was eventually impounded at Ankara in 1981 and scrapped there soon after.

This aircraft was delivered new to Eastern Airlines in February 1959 but leased out to Air Operations International, who reportedly operated it for the US Navy, in January 1977. It was registered to the Van Nuys-based Gulfstream American Corporation in March 1981, but cancelled in February 1983 when it was sold as PK-RLH to Mandala Airlines, who operated it until September 1989 when it was withdrawn from use at Jakarta. In July 1995 its remains were purchased by the Canadian air tanker operator Air Spray to provide parts to support its Electra fleet.
