The Försvarsmakten (Swedish defense forces) bought 22 Vertol 107s in 1963 for both the Flygvapnet (designated HKP 4A) and Marinen (4B and 4C).This particular 4B served at Berga and was mainly used for submarine hunting, minesweeping and various rescue missions. It was manufactured in 1959 as a prototype and came to Sweden in 1970 as a replacement and, as a result, has square windows on each side rather than all other HKP 4s with round windows. This helicopter rescued survivors from the Estonia ferry disaster and was handed over to the Flygvapenmuseum in 2011 after serving for 40 years.

The Re.2000 was one of two Italian aircraft types bought by the Flygvapnet when WWII broke out. It was given the designation J 20 and assigned to F 10 based at Bulltofta in Malmö. There, one of the aircraft's duties was to pilot foreign aircraft to suitable airfields, when they needed to make an emergency landing in Sweden during WWII. This J 20 arrived by rail from Italy in 1942 and, after the war was over, was used for ground instructional training so many panels were removed. The aircraft was later transferred to the museum at Malmen and is the only complete example of the type extant.

In late 1917, the Swedes began to explore the possibility of constructing an effective fighter aircraft. A few years later, four Macchi M.7s, one of the world's fastest aircraft in the 1920s, were bought for evaluation. Naturally a floatplane had a huge advantage considering there were so few airports in the country at the time and could use lakes for takeoffs and landings. The army flight based its four Macchi M.7 in Linköping and flew them extensively on Lake Roxen. This the only M.7 remaining and was taken out of service in 1927 and is now the only surviving example in the world.

A Phönix D.III impressed after performing in Stockholm after WWI. It was bought by the Swedes in April 1920 with another twenty pieces following in three months later. The original Hiero engines were replaced by the German six-cylinder BMW.IIIa by 136 kW between 1922-1923. Three aircraft were still in service at the time of that the Flygvapnet was established in July 1926, when they were given the designation J 1. The last aircraft conducted meteorological tests in 1936 and is now on display at this super museum.

A Phönix D.III impressed after performing in Stockholm after WWI. It was bought by the Swedes in April 1920 with another twenty pieces following in three months later. The original Hiero engines were replaced by the German six-cylinder BMW.IIIa by 136 kW between 1922-1923. Three aircraft were still in service at the time of that the Flygvapnet was established in July 1926, when they were given the designation J 1. The last aircraft conducted meteorological tests in 1936 and is now on display at this super museum.

The Flygvapenmuseum's policy's to only display aircraft types that have been used in the defence of the Swedish homeland, with this MiG-15 being the only exception. It is on display because a Soviet MiG-15 shot down a Swedish signal intelligence DC-3 (Douglas Tp79, 79001) and a rescue PBY Catalina over the Baltic Sea in 1952. This Polish-built Fagot was previously 25 with the Polish AF and arrived at the Flygvapenmuseum in 1987.

During the 1930s, war in Europe seemed likely and the Flygvapnet felt there was a need for a medium-heavy bomber. Therefore, 40 Junkers Ju 86s were ordered from Germany and given the designation B 3. A further 16 frames were manufactured under license by Saab in Trollhättan. This is the only preserved Ju-86 example in the world. It was manufactured in Germany and delivered to Sweden in 1938. The aircraft type was already obsolete, yet still served in the Flygvapnet across three decades. During the 1950s it was converted into a transport aircraft and made its last flight in 1958 to ESCF.
