Salvaged from Ballale Island in 1968. Restored to fly by Bob Diemert with a Wright R-2600 radial engine instead of the original. On November 22, 1969 he took off from Friendship Airfield on its first flight but it had not been registered or cleared. In anticipation of the flight, the Canadian Department Of Transport (DOT) had officers on the ground at the airport to arrest Bob when he landed. Hiller Aircraft's Model 1100 was one of three winning designs in the US Army Light Observation Helicopter - LOH program. Five helicopters were built as the YOH-5 to competed against the Bell YOH-4 and Hughes YOH-6 for production orders.The YOH-4 was eliminated and Bell went on to develop it into the civil Model 206 JetRanger. Hughes won the contract by under bidding Hiller. Fairchild bought Hiller in 1964 and the company developed their design as the FH-1100 for the civil Market. CF-DAL was in Canada with Geophysical Energy and Surveys 1967 - 75. It went to the USA registered N5594 until 2018.

slide by Peter C. Mills. - One single Sabreliner 60 can be found on the historic German aircraft register, which is shown here in its earlier colours. D-CEVW was operated in the US by Vorelco / Volkswagen of America from 1970 till 1978; thereafter it was operated as N111VW by the same company. Last known registration was N562MS, it was noted as such at Columbus OH, probably already wfu, and the registration was cancelled in 2011.

slide scan from the NK collection. - In addition to their two own HS-748s, CAA acquired G-ATMJ as a third aircraft ex Autair in 1972 and operated it until 1978, when they sold it to DAN AIR. In April 2002, whilst flying for Emerald Airways, G-ATMJ suffered an engine fire at Isle of Man and was retired thereafter.

Originally delivered in 1960, Royal Canadian Navy Tracker 1595 served on Canada's last aircraft carrier HMCS Bonnaventure. New serail 12195 and conversion from CS2F-2 to CS2F-3 in 1970 as Canada's military branches unified into the Canadian Armed Forces. Retired in 1990, the aircraft was acquired by Conair Aviation (C-FKUF) and converted to a Turbo Firecat for France's Securite Civile. First registered F-ZBCA, it became F-ZBCZ circa 2000.

slide scan from the NK collection. - G-APEU was one of a few BEA Vanguards which were not converted into a cargo version. It even flew passenger services with British Airways titles for a few months in 1974, before being retired at Heathrow. It was broken up in 1975.
