One of eleven Ju 52s that landed on frozen Hartvig Lake near Narvik on 13 April 1940, DB-QU was written off after its landing or possibly as a result of Allied air attacks. The wreck remains in the lake today. The origin of the photo is unknown but it would seem to have been taken in June 1940, after the ice melted and useful parts, including the left engine, had been removed. Of the eleven Ju 52s which famously landed on frozen Hartvig Lake near Narvik in Norway on 13 April 1940, this was the only one that could take off from the melting ice. Although bound for Oslo it strayed into Sweden and landed in a field near the village of Vallsta in Hälsingland. Its three crew were interned and the German crosses were overpainted with Swedish roundels, as can be seen in this photo. The aircraft was registered to the German embassy in Stockholm as SE-AKR on 27 August 1940 and flown back to Germany on 2 September 1940 by the courteous Swedes. On 13 April 1940 eleven Ju 52s landed on frozen Hartvig Lake to fly in a mountain artillery battery for the German troops in Narvik. Only one could take off again. Norwegian forces drove the Germans from the lake and tried to prepare three of the Ju 52s for their own use. Despite empty fuel drums strapped underneath the aircraft selected by the Norwegians, all ten Ju 52s on the lake eventually sank. Five were salvaged in good condition in the 1980s and 6821 is preserved in Speyer.

Damaged in a ground-loop at Baiyer River airstrip, Papua New Guinea, on October 17, 1959. Stripped of useful parts and abandoned. VH-BUU was a pre-war civil aircraft built for Lufthansa but delivered to Aero O/Y in Finland as OH-LAM. Sold in Sweden as SE-BUE in 1951 and to Gibbes in 1955. The BMW radials were replaced by Pratt and Whitney Wasps by Marshall Airways at Bankstown, Sydney, in 1956.

Former Portuguese Air Force aircraft (ex 6309, fin from 6310). Had registration OO-AGU reserved for it in 1987, but this was not taken up. Many other identities are quoted for this aircraft (c/n 501196, 5670 and 5671), but during restoration for the Musée Royal de l'Armée a plate was found on this aircraft which gave its identity as Werknummer 5667.
